Scenic Interstate 17—the gateway to Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, and the Grand Canyon—is less than a 15 minute drive. Closer to home, Bartlett Lake (30 minutes), Lake Pleasant (45 minutes), and Saguaro Lake (60 minutes), offer something for every taste. Spend the day wakeboarding and jet skiing, or heighten the romance with a sunset dinner cruise.

While Serene Carefree Oasis is centrally located, once here, you’ll feel like you have the desert all to yourself. Palms, cacti, and acacias border the estate, and the virtually untouched natural landscape stretches in all directions. As you might imagine, the sunsets here are truly mesmerizing, with brilliant hues you’ll see only in the desert.

The indoor kitchen is a masterpiece of design and functionality. It boasts two Thermador convection ovens, a six-burner Viking gas stovetop, and an oversized refrigerator and freezer. The main living area, which we call “the great room,” has a full entertainment system, a four-sided gas fireplace, and plenty of room for each couple to get cozy. “This March, I realized we had the opportunity to gather our university daughter, our other children and both sets of grandparents all at the same time. I jumped on it, but realized we would need a house big enough for the entire family. It isn’t always easy to find a suitable house. From the first time I saw the pictures I fell in love with this house. The owners have done an absolutely beautiful job! The house is warm, elegant (not in a stuffy way), comfortable and spacious. Every communication with the owners was pleasant and professional. It had everything we needed. While there, we had a few questions and they were very attentive. We have many friends in the area and it was a lovely spot to host. We used the amazing outdoor kitchen countless times. The guest house is perfect for the grandparents, giving them some space away from the hustle and bustle of kids. I have not hesitation at all in recommending this home and certainly hope we will frequent it again. We have stayed in the Scottsdale area several times before, but truly enjoyed being in Carefree for this trip. It is a much more relaxed setting, as all the street names reflect. Nonetheless, it is close enough to every amenity you need. Ours was an off-season august rental, in advance of moving our daughter into aSU. Its proximity to the Phoenix airport, Scottsdale, and Tempe make it an ideal location for shopping, dining and recreation. We were traveling with teenagers and would recommend the property for adults and/or families with teens or older children. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool area with the waterfalls and slide – the photos don’t do it justice. The privacy and 360 degree mountain views are amazing. Inside, we were particularly impressed with how beautifully the home is decorated. The kitchen, with its Subzero and Viking appliances, pantry, and laundry room, plus the expansive Master suite, with its to-die-for closet, walk-in shower and private patio with spa, made us wish we were staying longer. The house was clean and well-appointed. Simple conveniences, like a large tub of pool towels, were not overlooked. Being off season, we encountered a few minor maintenance issues but the owner/property manager was both accessible and responsive. We look forward to returning, perhaps with the extended family, at a time of year when we can take advantage of the outdoor area, which includes a fireplace, grill, and seating for 18.”

We prepared several meals in the spacious kitchen and gathered together in the dining room to enjoy them. Several of us played tennis on the neighborhood courts and enjoyed sunning at the pool. The location provides easy access to a grocery store and Highway 17, so it was simple to shop and sightsee. The bedrooms were all very comfortable, and only 3 queen beds had to be shared (amazing for a group of 12). We only ran into one maintenance issue all weekend and Guy (the owner) came to fix it that very day. In fact, he called us each day to be sure all was well in the house. He could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. I’d never rented a place through the internet before and was frankly, concerned that this could be too good to be true. Within 15 minutes in the house, we knew we’d made the right choice. I’d love to think of another excuse to use this great place. Thank you, Guy!”

We enjoyed the location being north of the busy city, but close enough to shopping (for my wife)restruants (for me) and lots of hiking and walking around the neighborhood (for both of us). Beautiful house with everything you need and more for a restful vacation. I have recommended this resort oasis to many of our friends. My wife and I would return in a minute. Don’t pass this one up.”

We were greeted shortly after arrival by the owner, who graciously gave us a tour and provided general information and instructions. We enjoyed the great weather, fantastic golf, a huge Thanksgiving dinner in the formal dining room with invited relatives from the Phoenix area, and relaxed in the hot tub or enjoyed unlimited cable shows and movies almost every night. We are a group of 12 sorority sisters from Colorado who wanted to celebrate our 50th birthdays together.
